Geotechnical Instrumentation
Terratek has instrumented several dams, embankments, excavations, tunnels and foundations. We supply and install instrumentation and produce a thorough analysis. We collaborate with clients from the planning stages of instrumentation to final analysis of the structure’s behaviour to recommended course(s) of action.
Dynamic load testing of structures
Terratek employs state of the art techniques to measure natural vibrations on structures due to traffic and wind, without inducing artificial vibrations. The advantages to our system are: (1) to assess structural integrity in real time; (2) detect damage and pinpoint location(s) (3) assess relative rate of structural aging due to use and (4) gauge the structure's behaviour under new loadings and allow intelligent estimates regarding the structure’s integrity for future use under potential loads. Dynamic load testing of structures can be used for bridges, piers, towers, offshore structures, harbour structures, dolphins etc.
In-situ testing
We carry out seismic piezocone, in-situ vane shear tests, Ménard pressuremeter and Marchetti dilatometer tests.
Mine tailings studies
We carry out investigation programmes on mine tailings properties covering static and dynamic behaviour, liquefaction resistance through in-situ and laboratory tests.
