Line objects have properties regarding their pen width, pen style and pen color. When drawing a line object the default properties apply. In order to change the properties of a line or a group of lines you first need to work on the lines layer. The select the line by left clicking on it (or hold the SHIFT key on the keyboard to select more than one line). Change the properties of your selection using the buttons on the Outline properties toolbar.
Notice that the width property is only valid for solid lines. Trying to apply a width of more than 1 pt to a dotted line will result the line to be drawn as solid. Also the outline properties apply to all line objects like single line, open polyline and closed polyline.

For the closed polyline object two more properties can be defined regarding the fill color and hatch type of the enclosed area. These properties can be adjusted using the buttons on the Fill properties toolbar.

When selecting a fill style other than solid (first selection on the drop down list) the color property will apply to the lines of the fill as shown in the below example.
