Input stone columns properties

Clicking the Properties button opens the following dialog window:

where:

Foundation type: The available selections for the shape type of the foundation are Rectangular and Circular. According to the selected shape type the software will calculate the corresponding replacement ratio.
Foundation length: This is the length (in meters) of the Rectangular foundation. If you select the Circular shape type then the numerical value for the foundation radius is entered instead.
Foundation width: The width of the rectangular shape foundation.
Calculate as infinite: If checked then calculations are performed according to Priebe's assumption of an infinite load area and infinite grid area.
Constrained modulus: The constrained modulus of the stone columns in MPa.
Friction angle: Stone columns material internal friction angle (in degrees).
Simplified procedure: If checked then the software uses only the basic improvement factor n0 for the calculation of the CSR. If not checked then the improvement factor n1 is used taking into consideration the stone columns compressibility.
Import from StoneC: Click this button if you own the StoneC software and you wish to import the data of a previously saved project.

Properties regarding the stone columns grid are presented below :

Grid type: The user can select between two installation geometries, Rectangular or Triangular.
X, Y column distance: Distance between the centers of columns in X and Y direction. For a more advanced options on grid installation schema you may click on the Tune Grid button.
No of columns: The software calculates the total number of columns below the foundation taking in consideration the geometric properties of grid and foundation. You may also enter a value in case that you don't agree with the automatically calculated number.
