Sometimes, it may be useful to smooth the input data, especially in cases when the CPT reading depth is too small (e.g. every 2 centimeters). LiqIT provides a simple running average procedure to smooth the data. The procedure is based on a moving window of user-defined size that equals the size (depth) of the data range to be averaged.
Click on the Data smoothing button. The software will prompt you with a warning that the data entered will be replaced by the smoothed values (this action cannot be undone). If you answer Yes then the following dialog will appear:
